Costimator® 3DFX for Machining Estimating

3Dfx supports over 30 CAD file formats, including Solidworks, Creo, CATIA, Inventor, NX, Solid Edge, IGES, STEP and Parasolid.

3Dfx is a universal CAD viewer that uses automatic feature recognition technology. The identifying and grouping of milling, drilling, and turning features enables end users to complete detailed estimates in an expedited manner.

What is Automatic Feature Recognition?

Automatic Feature Recognition (AFR) is used throughout manufacturing and found in CAD, CAM, and estimating software’s. AFR’s strength is recognizing as many features as possible without the user having to select faces or features.

How is AFR used in Costimator®?

Costimator® includes an add-on application called 3DFX. Once the recognition process is completed in 3DFX, the recognized features are converted to Costimator® operation details with a click of a button. This increases the speed to which users can perform detailed accurate estimating, exponentially. With Assembly CAD files it allows for importing of the BOM into Costimator® with a click of a button.
