Manufacturing cost models are a custom easy-to-use formula based method of creating a manufacturing process. Once created, using the embedded model editor, these models have inputs or drop down lists, as well as formulas that quickly and easily complete calculations for manufacturing time and/or cost. Costimator® contains hundreds of fabrication process cost models that make estimating sheet metal parts and assembly a breeze. The Sheet Metal feature recognition library within 3Dfx recognizes a wide variety of fabrication features (perimeter, internal cutouts, bends, etc.). The feature parameters are automatically mapped to the appropriate Costimator® cost models to quickly and accurately calculate cycle times and costs.

What comes with Costimator®?

Costimator® comes with hundreds of feature-based cost models (labor time calculators) that use industry-validated machine shop strategies and formulas (speeds and feeds, machine specific rapid traverse, tool change times, etc.) to generate cycle times. Costimator® is not only much faster, more accurate, and consistent than traditional methods of cost estimation without intelligent estimating tools.

Do Costimator® users have access to 3D Models?

Users that have access to 3D models can utilize the system's 3Dfx tool to:

  • Automatically generate manufacturing routings and cycle times. 
  • Eliminate cost model manual data entry.
  • Cost Estimate flat perimeter distances as well as the distances for internal cutouts and holes are automatically fed to operations like laser, plasma, and waterjet. 
  • Create customized routing templates can include your manufacturing rules and strategies to ensure the right processes are chosen for the estimators, enabling users with little to no manufacturing experience to use the system.
